NOW!

I'm finalizing some new messages that I have been preparing to preach at Campus Church at Liberty University this semester and I noticed something this morning that I want to challenge you with today.

"I tell you, NOW is the time of God's favor.  NOW is the day of salvation."  2 Corinthians 6:2

I almost didn't read that this morning because I almost slept an extra 30 minutes, but something told me to get up NOW and spend time in the word.  Isn't it odd how there is a resistance inside of us to doing things NOW?  We always want to wait, put it off, procrastinate.  Yet this verse implores us to see the importance of the moment.  God's favor is so good, His salvation is so great, that we can't put it off.  We need to act on it NOW.

What is it in your life, today, that you need to act on?

1.  You were mean to your spouse because they failed to meet your expectation.  Go say you're sorry NOW.

2.  You yelled at your kids because they got on your nerves and weren't listening.  Go repent to them NOW.

3.  You have not tithed in weeks.  Maybe months.  Write the check in obedience NOW.

4.  You've not spent time in God's Word in days...too busy.  Grab the Bible and read it NOW.

5.  You've been meaning to encourage a friend who is struggling.  Pick up the phone and call them NOW.

6.  You're overweight and you hate it.  Quit drinking soft drinks NOW.

7.  You're out of shape and lose your breath walking up stairs.  Schedule a walk or a workout NOW.

8.  You miss your mom or dad, but are on bad terms with them. Swallow your pride and call them NOW.

9.  You have not been on a date with your spouse in forever.  Call the babysitter for Friday night NOW.

10.  You know they are not a Christian, are lost and confused, and need Jesus.  Tell them about His love NOW.

If you don't do it NOW, you will put it off and it will never get done, and what is worse, you will become the sort of person who never accomplishes your goals and always regrets what you did not do.

The answer? Whatever it is, however long you have delayed, and whatever regrets you have that you have not done it up until this point...

DO IT NOW.  There will never be a better time.

What will you do today that you know you should have done already?

Clayton, thanks brother for this post. It dawned on me that NOW spelled backwards is WON. Since we won the battle as born-again believers we need to do things with an urgency because we are on the winning side. Sadly, we act like losers too often and procrastinate opposed to do things NOW “by faith.”

Blessings to you preaching at Liberty this year and praise the Lord for this mighty open door. They need to hear your message NOW. Love you buddy

I’m not a man of action, so doing it now is kinda hard for me.  After reading your enlightening words on DO IT NOW I feel like a new man.  Instead of finding myself saying i’ll do it later, I now find that I am saying DO IT NOW!

Clayton, My daughter is a student at Liberty and I want to tell you that she has already been challenged to make change in her life that she has been putting off for some time!  She’s been to convo and to your service this evening at LU.  You will never know how amazing it feels to see my daughter post on her facebook the excitement she feels about making change now!  In our prayers this week!!!

Wow Clayton,  The Lord is mightily using YOU for HIS glory NOW.  I have children at LU and they just went to listen to you tonite (Monday) and brought an unsaved friend.  What a call from one of them-their friend was one of many tonite to accept Christ and my son is changing his major to missions to dedicate his life to serve our Lord smile
